Ten Year Celebration!
Keller Williams Ottawa Realty (KWO) opened in May 2001 under the leadership of Jeff nd Margie Hooper. The idea was to build an innovative real estate company that would provide solid support services to clients, customers and associated realtors while striving to be a valued corporate citizen within the Ottawa- Carleton business community. Technology, training and consulting provide a cornerstone behind this business that is very “service oriented”.
KWO values are built upon the foundation set by Keller Williams Realty International (KWRI). That model is based on treating sales associates as business partners. Hence there is profit sharing, a leadership council and ongoing training for all. The founders of Keller Williams Ottawa Realty applied Canadian business practices to this strong model. The result is an innovative Canadian real estate business.
KWO has been successful at building a strong company of over 300 realtors and staff. Respect for all is a value that is lived. Staff members and realtors are proud of their contribution to the work environment. KWO is currently ranked among the top 10 companies by the Great Place to Work Institute of Canada for 2010, ranking among the top 5 places for women to work.
Giving back to the community and the world is the mission of KWO Cares. Contributions come from voluntary payroll deduction, time and through numerous annual fundraising events. KWO is proud to have provided a “home” for Help Lesotho, a non-profit organization that is operating within its office. By donating space along with financial contributions, Help Lesotho is able to direct a higher percentage of its funds to the people of Lesotho. KWO has also supported local needs such as operating costs for a week-end at the Respite Home of the Rotary House, tree planting at Rotary Home, playground development at Cambridge School, contributions to Harmony House and to many local charity drives. Giving back becomes a fun cultural experience as demonstrated by the “GEM” staff who annually decorate the office for National Pink Week, raising funds and encouraging a healthy list of participants for the CIBC Run For The Cure, held each Fall. Another popular event is for volunteers which include both staff and sales representatives to take part in the annual CHEO Trees of Hope, held every year at the Fairmont Château Laurier. KWO has proudly placed in the top five each year!
KWO maintains strong professional relationships with the network of Ottawa real estate brokerages and other Ottawa suppliers. It participates in various business forums and supports other Ottawa businesses for services from printing to office supplies and services.
The business continues to grow. New initiatives and new ways of approaching the great real estate traditions are continuous and necessary. With a strong residential clientele, commercial requests and needs have become the natural flow into next steps for KWO. KWO is very excited to be launching a Commercial Division with space dedicated to supporting real estate professionals with specialties in the areas of leasing, land sales, business sales and multi- family property sales.
The future continues to look promising!
